It’s been a terrible week!

Boy, what a week. Dad discovered something wrong with my eye last week. I wasn’t too worried, but when he showed it to Mom, she got all worried. So it was a trip to the doctor the next day. I had a hole in my eyeball! Yep, and it was draining fluid out. That’s what dad saw. So, the first doctor tried covering the eye with my third eyelid. They had to put a button on my face to hold the sutures. That wasn’t fun because I had to wear this hood thing and I couldn’t eat, and I couldn’t drink anything. Mom would take it off, and all I wanted to do was get rid of that damn button Oops, sorry, but it made me so mad.

But that didn’t work, and it started to leak again. Mom called the vet and we went in again. She said there was nothing she could do, and suggested another doctor that specializes in working on eyes. So off we went. He is a long way away, and it seemed to take forever. Once we got there, the doctor examined me and made a couple of suggestions. Well, mom and dad decided on his first choice and it was off to surgery for me. They gave me an artificial cornea. Well, actually according to the doctor, he had to put in two of them because the eye is so damaged. Then came that hood again, and we were off to home.

That lasted about two days, and it started to leak again. I hate this. So it was back to the doctor, and he found that some of the stitches had broken. So, he tried a type of glue that was supposed to hold. Well, it did, but other stiches broke and we had to go back again today. I was good, and let him look as much as he wanted to. He decided that we should just wait until Tuesday, and then make the final decision. But the good news is that I don’t have to wear that hood anymore. That’s so cool. Now I can eat and drink without Mom being there.

What a time!

What a terrible winter. It’s been cold, and cloudy for almost 3 months. I just hate it. But today it’s nice and sunny. I’d love to be outside, but that won’t happen. I did get to sleep in Dad’s bed when the sun was shining there, and then I moved to the kitchen. The sun is so warm! I love it.

Scary!

What a scary night!! All that noise. I wonder what it’s all about. I don’t like big noises, and usually try to hide. But Mom and Dad came down, and we suffered together. I just wish this wouldn’t happen. I don’t like it.

Snow!

It’s another terrible day. But it sure looks pretty outside. It snowed a little bit last night so everything has some white on it. I sure am glad I’m inside now. Now if I can just get Dad to start the heater today. I’m sure he will so that I don’t get too cold.

Adventure!

Saturday, October 18th, 2008 | Upstairs | No Comments

This past week, we (me and Lulu) have gotten to go out and explore the house a bit. It’s exciting! We usually make a dash for the basement, and explore. One time Lulu got this one door open and there is some really neat stuff behind it. But Mom has gotten it pretty well blocked now, so that’s out. Now we just explore what we can.

It takes a long time to do this, and we also have to keep going back up to check on Mom and Dad. They usually stay in the computer room. So it’s up and down the stairs a few times. After a while that gets to be pretty tiring.. ;-)

When we are downstairs it’s fun to see all the stuff that I remember from the old house. There are a couple of chairs that I used to sit on outside that are down there. But sitting on them now just isn’t the same. We do get to check on the laundry though. It’s good see that they are keeping up with it.

After a couple of hours of exploring I’m beat and usually go back up to my place to settle down and rest. That’s the best part. I usually sleep the whole night then. And Lulu usually does to.

Rolly

Just crummy..

Boy, what a crummy day. On the one day that I get to use the kitchen, and there is no sunshine. It’s terrible. I hate it. I love the sunshine. It makes me feel so warm and cozy. I snooze on the table, and then on the floor. But today there isn’t any, and it’s getting late.

So, I’m just going to go and make myself comfy on Mom’s bed. I’ll snooze there until Dad comes.

Hi!

I’m Sugar! I’m being sneaky and using Mom’s computer downstairs. I thought I’d write a bit about myself.

I arrived at Mom and Dad’s house about 6 months before we left. I met them because they left food outside. One night the door was closed and it was getting cold. So I went around the corner and climbed up to their balcony. It wasn’t too hard. Boy was Dad surprised when I showed up at the door! He couldn’t believe it. He brought me inside, and we went downstairs. Dad opened the door so I wandered outside. I was used to that.  I didn’t think too much about it, and later on went about my way. The next day, same thing. Darn downstairs door was closed so I climbed up again. That’s hard. There is something wrong with one of my legs and I couldn’t see too well out of my left eye. Well, when I showed up at the balcony door again, that was it. They decided that if I was that determined to come in, I could just stay. A couple of days later Mom took me to the doctor for a checkup. Unfortunately there wasn’t really anything they could do with the leg, but they did give her some medicine for my eye. It hurt and I didn’t like it. They would both have to work to put the drop in my eye. I guess that’s OK because now it’s much better.

About 6 months later we moved into this really big house! I love it. I’ve got lots of space, and get to spend a lot of time with mom and dad. They are great. They talk to me, and we have great conversations. I’m not sure that they understand me completely, but it’s fun. I get lots of petting, and I give lots of kisses. I like to do that.

That’s my story. I’ve got lots of stuff to talk about and I’ll be writing whenever mom isn’t using her computer.

Hi!

Thursday, September 11th, 2008 | Downstairs | No Comments

It’s me Mautzi. The queen of the house. I get to come up here to the computer room a lot, and decided it was time to introduce myself.

When I was little someone decided that they didn’t want me, and left me near the sportzplatz in Lichtenau. It was Ok because a lot of people would come by and leave food for me. But it started to get colder, and I started to get a bit worried. One night this nice kid Nick came by and took me to his house. Oh, what a place! It was warm, and there was lots of food. I was really happy. But then I discovered a bit of a problem. There was this big yellow cat that also lived there and thought he was the boss. He always wanted to be the in charge, and I just don’t like that.

After a while he mellowed out, and we had a great time. We played, and had a few fights, but nothing major. He was a good old guy. After a few years, he seemed to be getting slower and slower. I could tell he wasn’t feeling well.  Our  people finally took  him to the doctor and after that I didn’t see him anymore. I missed him, but it was nice to have the entire house to myself.  It  stayed that way until  a couple of years ago. That’s when mom started adding cats to the house. I just didn’t like it.

We finally moved into the big house, and now I get to have part of the house all to myself. I like that. I get to go upstairs to the computer room, and also downstairs to do laundry. Well, someone has to check it. Then on other days I get to go outside when the weather is good. It’s fun!

So, that’s my story. I’m the oldest and can still get around with the best of them. Getting old isn’t so bad. At least that what I tell mom and dad.. ;-)

Hi There!

Monday, September 1st, 2008 | Upstairs | No Comments

I’m Rolly, and I finally got to get to the computer to write a bit about myself. I’m the only other guy in the house. Most of the time it’s nice. I get to snuggle whenever I want. Especially when Mom is trying to knit or read or something other than holding me. ;-) I like that. She never gets anything done if I’m around and notice what she is doing. I also like to visit her when Dad goes outside. I’d like to go with him, but he usually doesn’t let me. So instead I run and get my cuddles with Mom.

I’ve been with the family for a bit over a year. I used to roam the neighborhood and thought I had it made. But this wonderful family decided to put some food out, and I was hungry. Then it started to get cold, and I found that I could go inside to get warm. Dad’s computers were always on, and that kept the room where we went  nice and warm. Mom also found some old blankets to lay on, and boy, were they comfortable.

One day I wasn’t feeling so good. I thought it was just a cold but Mom thought otherwise. She took me to the doctor, and while I was there they gave me medicine to help. When I woke up, something had changed, and I no longer wanted to wander the neighborhood. I’m not sure what happened, but I guess it was OK. I started feeling a lot better, and really enjoyed being inside where it was nice and warm.

Then all of a sudden about a year ago, we up and left the old place that was really sort of small, and came to this big house. I get to stay upstairs with Lulu, and for the most part it’s OK. We have lots of toys, and the TV to watch. It’s nice and there is room for both of us.

So that’s my short story. I’m glad to be here, and wouldn’t go back to the old ways. I’ll be back when I get a chance and let you know what’s happening around the house. Well, at least in the part I get to stay in.

We’re finally here!

Our wonderful master has decided to let us keep a blog. In a few days, we’ll upload pictures so that everyone will know us. There are 4 of us in the house. The oldest is Mautzi. She’s the queen of the roost. When she wants something she usually gets it. The second is Sugar. Sugar is just plain sweet, and when she wants something she’ll do just about anything to get it. Next is Lulu. That’s me. I’m the number 1 cat in the house. Last but not least is Rolly. The one guy in the bunch. Laid back, easy going, and just glad to be around. As long as there is food, and a nice place to sleep he’s happy.

Anyway, that’s the group of us. We’ll be around and let you know what’s happening around the house. We have opinions on everything, and we’ll share them with all.
